I am looking for more iPhone developers who are actively posting to their blog and/or Twitter. I have been learning a lot from books but the online resources beyond Apple's developer site have been hard to find.

Understanding reference counting with Cocoa and Objective-C
I'm just beginning to have a look at Objective-C and Cocoa with a view to playing with the iPhone SDK. I'm reasonably comfortable with C's malloc and free concept, but Cocoa's references counting scheme has me rather confused. I'm told it's very elegant once you understand it, but I'm just not over the hump yet.

Does UIGestureRecognizer work on a UIWebView?
I am attempting to get a UIGestureRecognizer working with a UIWebview which is a subview of a UIScrollView. This sounds odd but when I have the numberOfTouchesRequired set to 2 the selector fires, but when numberOfTouchesRequired is set to one the selector doesn't fire.

Lower case "k” in Cocoa
I know this is a common convention, but what does the "k" in variable names signify? (i.e. kMaxImageViewSize) I looked in the Apple documentation on Variable names and found no mention of it.
Open Source Cocoa/Cocoa-Touch POP3/SMTP library?
I'm looking to write a sample application speaking to a POP3/SMTP server. Instead of re-inventing the wheel with BSD sockets and CFNetwork type calls, I'm curious if there is currently any open source libraries that already take care of alot of the dirty work? I've tried Googling without much luck for anything.

How to handle app URLs in a UIWebView?
I recently found that my UIWebView was choking on ITMS links. Specifically, from the UIWebView in my app, if I navigate to a site such as this one and click the "Available on the App Store" link, UIWebView would error out with "Error Domain=WebKitErrorDomain Code=101 The URL can't be shown."
Is there a way to make drawRect work right NOW?
The original question...............................................
If you are an advanced user of drawRect on your ipop*, you will know that of course drawRect will not actually run until "all processing is finished." setNeedsDisplay flags a view as invalidated and the OS, in a word, waits until all processing is done. This can be infuriating in the common situation where you want to have:

Why tack a protocol of NSObject to a protocol implementation
I have been seeing some code around that resembles the following:
What"s the difference between sending -release or -drain to an Autorelease Pool?
In many Books and on many Sites I see -drain. Well, for an Autorelease Pool that sounds cool. But does it do anything other than an release? I would guess -drain just makes the Pool to -release all it's objects, without releasing the Pool itself. Just a guess.

Key-Value-Observation — Looking for a more elegant solution to respond to value changes
I've run into a frustrating feature of KVO: all notifications are funneled through a single method ( observeValueForKeyPath:.... ), requiring a bunch of IF statements if the object is observing numerous properties.

Is there a way that I can get the SNR (Signal-To-Noise Ratio) using CaptiveNetwork?
Is there a way that I can get the SNR (Signal-To-Noise Ratio) of a wifi AP using CaptiveNetwork? If there isn't, is the Wifi device on the iPhone capable of doing so? Also, I can't seem to get the signal strength of any wifi AP using CaptiveNetwork. It only gives me SSID, BSSID and SSIDDATA. Thanks!
