I want to use up/down icons like the ones used by "mail" in the upper-right corner when you're viewing a specific message. Are these icons available for free anywhere?
Beyond that, are there any sites with free navigation bar, toolbar, or tab bar icons?
Thank you!

This one doesn't seem to have the up and down icons, but it has a myriad of other ones: http://glyphish.com/
ReplyDeleteHope this is helpful!
If you're willing to build your own PNGs from a font, check out the Apple Symbols font. It contains almost all icons Apple uses in the iPhone UI:
ReplyDeleteMy company just released a free set of icons... check them out:

Totally free, as in beer and speech. Go nuts.
Check out the glyFX iPhone Common Icon Set thats a free set of 5 and we have more in the works, including arrows.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the apple sample project named "NavBar". This has the code for creating a segmented control with an up and down arrow in the upper right corner.

Jordi,
ReplyDeleteOpen an application (most all will allow the following trick) on your Mac.
Go under Edit > Special Characters.
A window will come up.
Make the following settings:
View: Glyph
Font: Apple Symbols
Scroll all the way to the bottom of the window. The last line should be #5120.
You know have what Ole posted. You can poke around in there.
Excellent icons on http://glyphish.com/!!!
ReplyDeleteWe use them in PerTrainer iPhone application http://pertrainer.com
You can see screenshots here:

I've made some nice icons over at tabs.icondesign.dk
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the default iPhone icons, but I would check out the FreeDesktop Tango Icon Library, which is now Public Domain and has tons of useful icons. Not sure how well these Icons would integrate with the iPhone look-and-feel, however.
ReplyDeleteThere is a 300+ icon tab bar collection at iconsberlin.com. It covers up and down buttons as well as some mail related icon. Icons may be added to the collection for free. Just request one on the page. Hope this helps!
